These instructions will help you downgrade from the most recent version of your software to a previous one.

Backup Your Database

  1. If you are able to open Salon Iris to create a backup, do so by going to File > Backup and Restore > Backup Database. If you have inadvertently updated to a newer version and cannot open the software to make a backup, skip directly to the Uninstall the Software section.

  2. Follow the prompts to create a backup either on your computer's hard drive or on a USB flash drive. The particular location of the backup does not matter as long as it is a location you can remember and find later.

  3. When the backup has completed, close the software.

Uninstall the Software

  1. Go to Windows Start > Control Panel.

  2. Select either Add/Remove Programs if you are using Windows XP or Programs and Features if you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8.

  3. Locate the program in this list, highlight it, and select Uninstall.

  4. If the program is listed more than one time, remove each one.

Rename the Program Folder

  1. Go to Windows Start > My Computer if you are using Windows XP or Windows Start > Computer if you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8.

  2. Go to the drive labeled C:.

  3. If you have a folder named Program Files(x86), open it. Otherwise, open the folder named Program Files.

  4. Right-click the folder matching the name of your software and select Rename from the fly-out menu.

  5. Change the name by adding New to the front. If your folder is named Salon Iris, then it should be called NewSalon Iris once renamed.

Install the Previous Version

  1. Go to the Salon Iris support downloads website here.

  2. Download and install the version you had before. If your version is not listed, send our support team an e-mail to request that an installation link be sent to you.

Restore Your Database
We strongly recommend restoring the most recent backup of your database created with your old version after downgrading from the current version. Restoring a backup created with a newer version will almost certainly result in errors using your database.

  1. Open the software and go to File > Backup and Restore > Restore Database.

  2. Choose Restore Database from Backup.

  3. Browse to the drive labeled C:.

  4. Open Program Files(x86) if you have it. Otherwise, open Program Files.

  5. Open NewSalon Iris.

  6. Open AutoBackups and select the most recently created file in this folder to restore your information.
